Australian Musical Theatre Festival

Share the stage...

Launceston’s big little festival of musical theatre invites everyone to share the stage.

As always we first had to attend a Festival for our selves. With a brief to eschew sequins and feathers, ocal research delivers a new storytelling infused with all that Launceston has to offer. Its rich history of theatrical performance dates back to the late 1800s bookended with a thriving contemporary scene so this city’s plethora of handsome theatres and quirky performance spaces is the perfect visual backdrop, soaked in the ravishing colours of autumn.

Share the stage is an invitation for audiences to enjoy intimate performances and the promise of chance encounters with the stars. It’s also a journey from past to present (and beyond) encapsulated by unique parentheses—representing distinct musical epochs.

Celebrate. Educate. Cultivate. Audiences are asked to celebrate the art form while learning that it’s much more than sequins and feathers. As Tasmania’s gastronomic centre Launceston also invites audiences to cultivate their taste buds during the harvest season.

All ingredients for successful placemaking that we’re told helped secure government funding. The cherry on the Festival’s cake you might say. We hope you’ll want to share the stage.
