Intercultural understanding

The PNGAus Partnership Secondary Schools initiative aims to strengthen relationships between Papua New Guinean (PNG) and Australian secondary schools. This initiative deepens people-to-people links and builds secondary education capabilities in STEM, English and student agency.

Envelope’s initial research discovers a library of regionally specific motifs representing PNG’s unique indigenous cultures. To complement these, our friends at Northsite Contemporary Arts provide a library of Australian and Torres Strait Islander artworks. The monochromatic illustrations form the foundation of student workbooks and teacher’s guides using core content provided to Envelope by Asia Education Foundation’s skilled team of educators.

Envelope’s sketched pictogram language communicates eight core capabilities which adorn printed collateral, merchandise and workshop signage.

Cost effective solutions created for reuse across the life of the program are printed in Melbourne as well as locally in PNG.

Through the library of motifs, students learn cultural specifics about the regions they live in as well as those they visit as part of this exchange program.

Celebrating our differences…

Envelope’s research revealed a rich library of imagery used to engage a culturally diverse student body. What could we discover for your next project?
