The PNGAus Partnership initiative aims to strengthen relationships between Papua New Guinean (PNG) and Australian secondary students. We were delighted to create culturally specific learning materials that deepen people-to-people conversations and intercultural understanding.
While researching content we discovered a library of regionally specific motifs representing PNG’s unique indigenous cultures. To complement these, our friends at Northsite Contemporary Arts provided a library of Australian and Torres Strait Islander artworks. We also created hand-drawn pictograms representing eight core capabilities. Through these monochromatic motifs, students learn cultural specifics about the regions they live in as well as those they visit as part of this important exchange program.
